A premium Paperchase store in a Grade II listed building that used to be a post office, which had been split in two by the developer. All the old brickwork and steel structure had been completely hidden and the door was central and included a large step.
We asked the Royal Mail to move a post box outside so that we could change the entrance to the side and provide improved access. This also meant that we created a better space for the window displays and the post box is a reminder of the building’s previous life and is useful for Paperchase’s customers too.
The colours and ceiling arrangement in the centre were conceived to make it so that when you are at the back of the shop, it really opens up. The design includes synchronised LED colour change lighting to the shop sign, shop front side panel, and internal step nosing.
We also refurbished the entrance to the adjacent flats and the stonework next to the shop front so that it all looks as it would have when it was first built. More complicated than it might seem but it was worthwhile making the effort. Completed November 2010.
