This Grade II Listed building was a pound shop before Paperchase got it and an old photo in the pub around the corner shows that it was a car repair shop in earlier times.
Planning and listed building constraints made this a difficult project as there was a lot of resistance to the proposed design from the local authority but a successful planning appeal meant that we could go ahead and do what can be seen today.

There was an unusually low ceiling on the left hand side of the store that had obviously caused problems for previous tenants.
We overcame this by raising the roof within in a light well and along the way, discovered earlier roof lights as well that we repaired and left exposed, which provide excellent lighting to the retail environment. Completed March 2010.
