This was the first of the Paperchase flagship stores that we designed (as Wingate and Moon).
It was great fun to work on and we were allowed the opportunity to do some pioneering stuff such as developing our own resin floors with a polymer manufacturer’s chemists (the resin floor industry being non existent in those days) so as to make something really unique for the floor.

It was a huge architectural undertaking, with a new mezzanine cast in concrete that included pockets for the lighting because of height restrictions (quite tricky).
The works also included a complete building refurbishment with a new central atrium. Wingate Design Partnership is now working on a makeover of this store, which is due to be completed in 2012/13.
